Hello

My name is Sarah Duffield and I have lived in West Sussex for the past 25 years. I am married with 2 grown up children and have a passion for holistic therapies. I am a fully qualified Reiki practitioner. I am also a member of FOYHT (Association of Independent Therapists and Practitioners).

About me

I have been fascinated by the holistic approach to healing for many years now. I grew up in a generation where we were encouraged to seek quick fixes and ‘pop a pill’ to help with physical (or mental) ailments.

As I have got older and researched more into the mind-body connection I have become very aware of the role our mental health and wellbeing plays on the impact it has on our physical health. Due to this knowledge and the experience I have gained in my role for many years as a pastoral lead in a secondary school, I have become very experienced in all aspects of mental health. Working with teenagers (and their parents), who are growing up and trying to navigate the fast paced and sometimes overwhelming world that we live in drove me to explore holistic methods for helping them to cope with life. I have therefore completed courses in resilience therapy, bereavement, ADHD and Autism, anxiety, school refusal and self-harm. I have also qualified and worked as a volunteer crisis counsellor for SHOUT.

My interest in the mind-body connection initially led me to mindfulness and I have practised and taught this for over 10 years. I have also always coached and participated in sport and am also an advocate for the benefits that exercise can bring.

In the last year and a half I have thrown myself into holistic therapies, partly as a way of coping with my own mental health due to the traumatic death of a close family member. I have explored acupuncture, massage and practised mindfulness more than ever before. I am an avid follower of Wim Hof’s method of cold exposure and controlled breathing and since leaving mainstream education now teach aqua yoga (which comes from a lifelong practise of and belief in, all that yoga can bring). During this time of exploring holistic therapies for my own benefit I stumbled upon Reiki and the first session was more powerful than anything I had experienced before in a holistic sense. It released emotions and tension that had been trapped in me and I left the treatment room feeling lighter, calmer and more relaxed. This experience inspired me to find out more and I have now completed both my level 1 and level 2 degrees in Reiki and am bringing this wonderful form of healing to clients from my beautiful treatment room in Southwater, West Sussex.
